| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description This is an all-in-one powerhouse. Thanks to its patented print head technology and 5-color ink system, you'll create spectacular photos with 9600 x 2400 color dpi resolution1, and fast: a photo lab quality 4" x 6" borderless print takes only about 21 seconds. Copies will be remarkably true to the originals, and when scanning photos you'll produce impressive 4800-dpi results, with vibrant 48-bit color depth. The built-in Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) holds up to 35 originals and enables automatic duplexing, so you do not have to wait, and then manually turn over your 2-sided original. This versatile machine is networkable via an Ethernet connection. You can also print photos right from memory cards - selecting and enhancing images on the high-resolution 2.5" color TFT display - or directly from a digital camera.
Manufacturer Product Description This networkable 5-in-1 is all business, able to quickly produce beautiful photos and bold, professional-quality text. You can print photos right from compatible memory cards; selecting and enhancing images on the 1.8 inch color LCD display - or directly from a digital camera or DV camcorder. The Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) holds up to 30 originals, and two paper trays can store both plain and photo paper. You'll achieve up to Super G3 fax speed in color and B&W, and the expanded memory can store 40 speed dial codes and receive 100 incoming pages. Copies will be remarkably true to the originals, and when scanning photos you'll produce impressive 2400-dpi results, with vibrant 48-bit color depth. The networkable 5-in-1 MX700 is all business, able to quickly produce beautiful photos and bold, professional-quality text.. View larger. | Superb Resolution To achieve 4800 x 1200 color dpi resolution, Canon Full-photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering (FINE) uses a patented print head with 1,600 precision nozzles, ejecting ink droplets as small as 2 picoliters. The result: Amazing images. Four High-Performance Ink Tanks This All-in-One uses four high-intensity dye-based color inks for rich photos and graphics, and a pigment black ink for clear, laser-quality text. Replace only the color that runs out, rather than a multi-color tank containing unused ink, helping to reduce your print costs. Fast Printing For extra productivity in the home or small office, you'll be able to produce up to 30 ppm black / up to 20 ppm color. You can also print a superb 4 x 6 inch borderless print in only about 46 seconds. Automatic Document Feeder The built-in Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) holds up to 30 originals, so it's faster and easier to copy, scan or fax your larger documents. Auto Image Fix The built-in Auto Image Fix feature helps you produce amazing results on all your photos. First, it categorizes your images into one of five types - Portrait, Scenery, Night Scenery, Snapshot with Scenery, and Snapshot with Night Scenery - then applies optimal image correction accordingly. For example, it will automatically brighten faces that are backlit and underexposed, and correct color cast to help ensure more accurate skin tones. Auto Image Fix ensures a good print every time. | Two Paper Trays Two built-in paper trays let you store photo paper and plain paper of different sizes - so you're always ready to print. View, Edit and Enhance Images With the 1.8 inchLCD screen you can view images on a compatible memory card without having to download them to your computer, then enhance them before printing. Network Connectivity An Ethernet interface lets you connect to a home or office network, with connected computers sharing the use of this versatile machine. High Performance Faxing This Office All-In-One achieves Super G3 Hi-speed fax in color and B&W, and its memory can store 40 coded speed dials and up to 100 incoming pages. Print from Memory Cards / Cameras Want to print photos directly from a compatible memory card without using your computer? Just insert the card into a built-in slot, select images on the LCD display, and print! You can also print photos directly from your digital camera/DV camcorder.

Wonderful All-in-One, Fussy setup. November 29, 2008 RC (San Jose, CA USA) The printer, scanner, and fax functions all work as advertised. This printer isn't tiny, but with ADF, two input trays, and flatbed scanner, it's not that huge, either. Double sided printing does take time - but necessary to prevent bleed through - this isn't a laser printer. Dropping in a document and getting a PDF on any of the network-connected printers with just a few simple button pushes is terrific! The photo printing is not as stunning as on my Canon i950, but still pretty good, considering it does not have the extra photo inks. My only quibble (which is why it gets 4 stars from me) is the setup. I wanted to use this printer over the network from several PCs with no USB connection from any of them. I ended up installing the printer using USB on one Windows XP machine, then removing the printer drivers and software from that machine, then installing the drivers and software over again as a 'PC only' network install. It's now working happily and is accessible from several Windows XP machines at home. As an all purpose All-In-One, it does everything that I asked for.
Easy and the Best November 25, 2008 Mickster (norcal) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have been through a Lexmark and 2 HP printers (both over $300). This is the best printer ever and it was less then $200! Very easy to install, I installed with no help and I do not consider my self that techy savvy. Easy to use, fast and the color is great. The best price I found was at Amazon.
This is the printer to have November 24, 2008 Philip Lahue 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I purchased the Canon Pixma MX850 printer a month ago and have been very happy since. I had been a staunch HP fan, but I guess I didn't know what I had been missing. This machine prints fast and the output looks great. I have two daughters that are very computer savy and they print a lot of things. The ink seems to be holding out well and is easy to change. The printer installed very easily and with no problems. The scanner is also great. I also had an HP scanner and have had problems with the SW for that. The Canon worked very well and the scan images were very clear. Lastly, I liked the SW that came with the Canon. It was superior to the HPs that I had purchased in the past.
Canon MX 850 --Seems like a good printer November 23, 2008 J. Gordon (Los Angeles, CA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I've only had the printer for a month or so, but I like it alot. Easier to use than my last Canon, the Pixma 780. Hope it holds up better than the other one did.
happy and impressed with this printer November 20, 2008 Stephen R. Scheffler (Seattle, Washington) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My Cannon Pixma MP780 finally gave out after five or six years of good use. I didn't need all the features on the MX850 but it looked like the next generation MP780 so I decided to purchase it. I believe this printer will give me many years of reliable performance. The reason I say this is that my old Cannon Pixma MP780 is literally in three major pieces now. I disassembled this earlier generation Cannon to see how well it was put together and I was impressed with the internal workmanship of this line of printers possess. I believe the MX850 has this quality of workmanship and it also. I was also pleasantly surprise at how fast the new printer prints. I'm hoping that the new printer will allow me to refill its inks cartridges without getting an error message. I was able to do this on the Cannon Pixma MP780 fairly easily and it saved me a lot of money life for the printer. These printer cartridges appear to be the same size but they have a chip which concerns me a bit. The only reason I did not give this printer a five star rating is because my lack of experience with it. I believe five years from now I'll be a link of this printer 10 star rating if that were possible.
