Well rounded mini-system July 31, 2010

Not being a "off the shelf" computer purchaser, I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the spec's for this bookshelf system. Quad core, good base/expandable memory, excellent integrated features... there was much to peak my interest and venture its purchase. In the time I have had it (not quite a year), I have not been disappointed. There have been observations that the CD/DVD bay button is stiff and difficult to use, which is Very true, but manageable if used with care and caution.
Keep in mind that aside from memory and hard drive, and maybe the ROM, this is Not an upgradable unit. The PSU is only ~250, and the PCI slots are low profile, so no adding a healthy gaming video card. This unit is very much intended to be as it is sold for it's lifetime. That said, it's integrated video (and integrated HDMI connection) are robust enough to run my 40" TV as a media center unit, and it will handle WoW on a smaller screen (with many graphics options turned low/off).
Another drawback I noticed to this unit/series is that there is no included recovery media, you have to create it on your own.
All in all, a very nice little unit. I would recommend it as a basic/mid line MCE system, and for those that need a little more umph without sacrificing space it should do well.

Excellent, the compact size is a plus, plenty of connections and the HDMI to my
HD monitor was a great selling point. Also customer service from vendor with prompt
delivery. My first Gateway product, I should have checked them out several PC's ago!

Bought in August, 2009. Worked great and I was very impressed with it. Did the free upgrade to Windows 7 in November, 2009 and it was even faster. This morning, I turned it on and there is no video output. Now, I have to ship it to Texas (my cost to ship) in order to have Acer repair it. I found a few other owners with similar problems online. I'd recommend staying away.

Great computer for the price. Very fast and slim. Being slim though, you cannot easily add to it although it has pretty much everything you need for daily use. I was eager to get it because it had a HDMI output and could connect it to a LCD tv. Very neat! :)
