5 out of 5 stars xserve delight   August 29, 2007
Lathe S. Gill (California)
If you own a classic Xserve, this little card will brighten your day. Yes, you can use Apple's own software product, or even Timbuktu (which is a very nice program I might add). However, suppose you decide to install Linux. You're pretty much out of luck. It works right out of the box and it won't overtax your system bus. A great little card. Don't plan to game with it. That's not in the cards.

5 out of 5 stars Love it!   January 10, 2007

The Radeon Mac Edition works great. I bought it to utilize screen spanning and it does not disappoint.

4 out of 5 stars Works fine for me   January 3, 2007

The card works great and I have no problems with it exept for one. If you plan on using Final Cut Pro don't get it. FCP doesn't support PCI video cards. It only works with AGP cards. Everything else is just fine.

3 out of 5 stars Not as powerful an upgrade as you would hope   November 10, 2006
IthacaMatt (Syracuse, NY)
I upgraded a G3. I read reviews and knew that this was only supposed to make an old machine adequate, and that's about all this does. The Sims2 - granted, a very demanding game on the CPU - barely runs, and even internet video downloads get choppy if I make the window too big. I have 1 GB of memory in the machine, so that's not the problem. A little disappointed, but I understand that it's the best that's out there for a machine this old. I wound up putting too much money into upgrading everything, when I should have just bought a new machine.

3 out of 5 stars Not compatible with HDMI   September 11, 2005

This card has DVI output, but does not work with an HDMI TV. HDMI is DVI video plus copy protection plus audio. ATI did not say why it didn't work, but they "escalated" the problem to see if there was anything they could do. Never heard back from them. Doing some research I think the problem is their implementation of DVI does not output HDCP (the copy protection scheme built-in in HDMI). My PowerBook's DVI output works just fine with the same cable/adaptor and TV so I know for sure the problem is the card. I had to return this card as it was intended to be used with my big screen TV.
