PVR stands for PC Video Recorder. The WinTV-HVR-950 is a PVR that allows you to play television through your computer and record the broadcasts digitally. PVR doesn't use standard videocassettes; instead, it uses your computer's hard disk to store the broadcasts. i like the hauppauge 950q wintv- hvr 950q tv card because it gave a very clear picture once i downloaded the software, and played around with the computer awhile to get it to let me watch tv. the only down side that i have with it is that i live five miles from the illinois/wisconsin stateline, which means that getting wisconsin television stations is impossible for me to get in, even with the amplified hd attenna,unless i get subscribe to sattube.

I purchased this a couple of days ago from circuitcityonline.
The initial setup was a breeze but the channel scan took almost 20 mins!
But once the scan was complete, it was all set and ready to go. The remote feels like a waffer biscuit and not very ergonomic. My CPU usage was 20 to 30% and peaked at 40% sometimes while watching HD channels. The HD was very clear and razor sharp! I had absolutely no issues with video or sound and it was very smooth (I have dual nVidia GPU cards). Overall, I love this product...
