Amazon.com Product Description
Now you can address all your CD-burning needs with one complete and easy-to-use package. Memorex's external 52x-write, 32x rewrite, and 52x-read CD-R/CD-RW drive (model 32023261) is outfitted with a high-speed USB 2.0 interface to permit some of the fastest burning available: you can have a full, 80-minute CD in hand in just 1.5 minutes. (The drive is operable with USB 1.1 PCs, at accordingly lower transfer rates.) The drive uses innovative SMART-Burn technology by Lite-On to monitor media quality, prevent buffer underrun, and set the burning speed for optimal writing. Supplied software includes Nero 5.5 (an all-in-one audio-editing and CD-burning tool) and Ahead Software's InCD (a packet-writing program that formats rewritable discs so they can be used like large diskettes)--everything you need to create music, data, multimedia, and backup CDs.

What's in the Box
CD drive, a USB 2.0 cable, 2 recordable CDs (1 CD-R, 1 CD-RW), software on CD-ROM (Nero 5.5, InCD), an audio cable, an AC/DC power adapter, a user's manual, and warranty information.

The product itself looks nice and trim. I was able to connect power to test insertion and removal of compact disc successfully. However, I was not able to get computer (Duracom IBM running Windows XP) connection figured out. Could have better explanation with diagram (which way is up on plug? which of 2 possible ports do I plug into?)

Be sure to hang on to your receipt...chances are high that you'll swiftly return it for a refund. I wasted my entire day off trying to figure this thing out! It comes and goes on my system. One moment it's there and then it goes into hiding. Very complicated and impossible to figure out. I advise everyone to look elsewhere.

1 out of 5 stars Memorex 32023261 USB 2.0 CD-RW Drive (52x/32x/52x)   March 13, 2005

I am a 35 year old degreed electrical engineer and just spent my entire weekend attempting to get this drive to work on our windwows XP laptop.

Windows media player could make some contact with the CD_RW to read, but writing is very iffy, and I am sure I have the correct media.

Microsoft does not carry drivers for the Memorex product line on their website. The memorex website has neither the user manuals nor the drivers to download. Their is also no customer support on weekend from Memorex. The software which came with it has an electronic copy of the manual - but it shows pictures of another drive (not the one I purchased) and the only driver is for Windows 98.

3B tech did ship and the product arrived prompty. It looks like a basic lack of ability from Memorex to support this product. Ours will be return shipped tomorrow.
