Excellent! June 28, 2008 Charles A. Unglesbee (Boone, NC) The Iomega CD-RW USB 2.0 External Drive is excellent. The installation instructions are exceptional and the drive is easy to install. Most importantly, the copies produced are excellent. It is an outstanding product to be added to a personal computer.
non-working CD-RW drive January 9, 2007 Deborah B. Adler (Delmar, NY) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Although the purchase and delivery process went smoothly, the product didn't work on either of my two Macs, or on a friend's PC. Among other things, the pins on the computer end of the power supply bent like feathers. But even absent that, the drive simply wouldn't load. I contacted Iomega (a hassle), and was authorized to return it, but was warned to return only those parts that needed fixing, as nothing else would be sent back. By the time the replacement came, I had mislaid the CD with the drivers on it. Now I have to go back to Iomega (only specified hours; only on weekdays) and try to get a replacement CD. The drive is also large and loud. All in all, I'm sorry I ever ordered it.
HORRIBLE product June 23, 2006 Lizard (Florida) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
I paid $75, plus more for tax, for what I feel is a piece of junk that will not even burn CDs. Yes I bought the Iomega CD-RW. I expected to get something I can plug in and use just like any other CD-RW. You know, go under windows "My Computer", click on music or whatever, and copy to the CD rewrite. Ohhh no, it won't do that. It won't even recognize the CD disc in it!--and yes my computer recognizes the actual drive, so it's no configuration problem. Maybe I'm supposed to use the aweful software packaged in it? No, that's not right--I want an external CD-RW, and using standard windows commands should be able to copy to disc. And yes I did send it to the correct drive--I KNOW how to use external drives because I have an external DVD reader/writer on my other computer, and it behaves like it should. This one won't. I'm 100% angry about this, and taking it back for a full refund tomorrow. I think this is a piece of junk. Thank you very much Iomega for wasting my time.

This product works well. I am running OS/9 on a Macintosh G4 system and had no problems with the install. I was able to begin burning music CDs in a matter of minutes right out of the box.
Love the drive, hate the software September 19, 2004 I. Gross Georg (Edmond, Oklahoma USA) 14 out of 16 found this review helpful
I like this little drive. It's smaller than the ZipCD650. I'm using this one with my Grape iMac 333Mhz. It comes with Charismac DiscBurn, which does basic job, but you can't make hybrid discs without a separate hard drive. Needless to say this is most inconvenient; you also cannot make mp3 CDs with it, and you can't name your CDs. (if you try to, you still just get Audio CD on your desktop.) Toast does not recognize the drive and locks up the computer trying to find it. I realized this when I checked Roxio's compatible drive list and found the 52x32x52 wasn't there. (Apple system profiler sees it as one number, a different number is the Model number, neither number is on the list.) So! I'd love to use Toast with this but can't. I haven't tried it with DiscBurn. I can use HotBurn basic with it, but again, I can't make hybrids or mp3 CDs, which were SO easy when I was still on 9.0 and had the ZipCD. In short, it's hard to be 100% positive about the drive when it won't work without a program, and the programs I want to use with it won't recognize it. You can't even use it as a CD-Rom without a driver provided by the burning software. My recommendation for a Mac user is check with Roxio (who makes Toast) before you buy a drive.
