Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Make Skype calls from your cell phone, the nearest phone or any phone. Vosky Call Center from Actiontec takes the great sound quality of Skype calls and makes these features accessible everywhere on any phone. Call Center makes this possible by working like a mini phone operator. Once you've connected it to your computer and phone jack, you call Call Center from any phone and tell it which Skype contact you would like to call. Call Center then makes and transfers you to the free Skype call. For more convenience, you can also connect a phone directly to Call Center and just dial your contact's number from this phone. You can connect Call Center to a phone and hear an actual phone ring, loudly and clearly, when you receive a Skype call. In addition, Call Center will forward missed Skype calls to any phone number of your choice. Now you can be anywhere and still receive your important Skype calls. When you make Skype calls on the go, you're inevitably going to call someone who isn't online and available at that time. You can choose to have Call Center call your cell phone or any ordinary phone number of your choice as soon as your Skype contact is online. Then you can instantly call your Skype contact again with the press of a button. Outgoing call forwarding (Skype calls to ordinary phones) Incoming call forwarding (ordinary phone calls to Skype calls) Call notification when Skype contact is online Computer answering machine software included Call waiting Caller ID for Skype calls Supports Skype speed-dial and SkypeOut service Voice menu No external power required Echo-cancellation technology System Requirements - One IBM PC-compatible computer with one available USB port, Celeron 800 MHz or faster processor, 128 MB RAM, 15 MB available hard disk space, and a CD-ROM drive, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Internet connection, analog telephone and optional analog telephone line Dimensions - 11.5 x 8.5

4 out of 5 stars Good with a tweak   June 7, 2008
T. Wijaya (California, USA)
Bought this vosky a couple of years ago. And since now I do not have a phone line yet, I was thinking to use Skype outgoing and buy a call-in number.

Well the vosky proved to be useful, Previously, I have the skype 2.5 comes with the CD. Obviously its already outdated.

After researching from the web, found out that its possible to upgrade the drivers and the skype.

So now, I am running the vosky with Skype 3.6.0.248

So for those who claims that this vosky not working with Skype 3.6
Well it works for me.

You only need to set the audio settings in skype:
Microphone: Vosky Call Centre
Speaker: Vosky Call Centre
Ringing: Vosky call centre

And disabled the
"Actiontec Voice Gateway"
from the Device Manager.

Do I recommend this product? Yes
Is the Sound quality better than if you are using headset? No, but it provides convinient since now I can make a call from my bedroom.

2 out of 5 stars Vosky Call Center... its ok uses old version of Skype   May 14, 2008
Philip B. Bigelow (CA, USA)
The Vosky Call center performs as advertised, but has one flaw. The box will only work with an older version of Skype, 3.2. This Skype is from February 2007, which is 1 year and 3 months old. I am also not impressed with help you can get online on the Vosky website. More on that later. This box let's you use your older digital phone, mine is a Panasonic KX-TG2224W 2.4 Ghz phone with Skype.

I was able to get current drivers for this device. But as I said, they don't test very often with new versions of the Skype software. Vosky has not tested for a year this box with Skype. I call that neglectful support. That is NOT very impressive. They do not provide any tech support for everyday users, except for "forums". One thread referred to a bios upgrade for the Vosky box that is NOT on their website. Pretty stupid...!!! You can get downloads of a year old software and manuals. You have to be a "partner" to get actual tech support, which makes no sense at all. The Vosky software freezes your PC when the phone cord is a little loose, they do not provide time for a "time out" message for when there is a physical conection issue. Vosky keeps trying to connect to the phone line, and keeps looping. Instead of a timeout message when not finding the phone line. Not very good QA or error handling. Same with when it connects to a a newer version of Skype. Instead of telling you it can't connect to Skype and asking you if it wants you to give up for now, it keeps trying to restart Skype over and over, thus putting your PC into a loop. I had to shutdown my PC to stop this and un-install Skype in Safe Mode...!!!

So that is why I gave this device a 2 star rating. It works as advertised, but don't upgrade your Skype software, or Vosky will stop working...!!!! All in all definitely not in my "top ten" of high tech devices...!!! Phil the Tech Wiz in California

1 out of 5 stars Injects annoying touch tones during calls. Forgets settings on reboot of PC.   March 4, 2008

When my wife speaks during calls, the harmonics of her voice, for some reason, triggers the nearest touch tone to be auto-generated and injected into the call by some circuit in the Vosky box, causing the people we talk to to believe we are recording calls. This is very annoying and distracting! My voice does not match a touch tone and does not trigger this odd behavior. The device's software should allow the user to turn off this "feature".

Also, when I reboot my PC, I must reset Skype's audio settings each time, to use Vosky's USB device vs. the PC's audio ports. The other USB device I've used with Skype does not have this problem, and I must assume it is another bug in Vosky's implementation.

2 out of 5 stars needs updating   January 18, 2008

I bought this product in the hope to not need a regular landline phone number. The promise of the product is to be your call center including long-distance from your cell by just punching a few numbers. However, the advanced features can only be used with a regular phone line linked in. Even Skype-In, which makes no sense at all, since it comes through the cable line not the phone line. It just doesn't ring for incoming Skype calls. Customer service was helpful. The product supports Skype to version 3.2. No committment by support on when upgrades will be available. I sent it back.

1 out of 5 stars don't waste your money, because you'll soon lose your time!   January 16, 2008

If I could give this zero stars, I would. This product worked for a very short time. There is absolutely NO tech or customer support. The firmware has not been updated since May of 2007. I put it back in the box months ago because I got so tired of their only suggestions: instead of using the current version of Skype, I was told by VoSKY's tech people to use Skype version 3.2 or earlier! Every bad review you saw above this one? I have one word: Ditto! The call quality wasn't bad, but I couldn't take all of the skype restarts, and the constant vosky request to update software for which vosky has no update! In short, this product does not do what it is advertised to do!
